The dental clinic offers support to low-income individuals and families in need of fillings for dental procedures. They accept various insurance options to ease the financial burden:
- For families with children covered by BC Healthy Kids insurance, the practitioner accommodates this supplementary MSP coverage. While it may not fully cover filling costs, the practitioner absorbs the additional expenses, ensuring no financial burden on parents.
- Low-income adults seeking fillings can benefit from the practitioner's acceptance of BC Employment and Assistance Dental Supplements linked to income/disability assistance. Any remaining costs are not passed on to patients, particularly those receiving disability assistance.
- First Nation patients are accommodated through FNHA dental insurance, which offers comprehensive coverage for dental fillings, and Jordan's Principle, ensuring accessible dental care for eligible individuals.
The eligibility criteria for treatment in the operating room are as follows:
- Restorative treatments and surgeries for children 12 years of age or under that require extensive rehabilitation and who could not be managed otherwise without a GA or whose treatment may last more than one hour. Please note that children under four years of age must weigh over 15kg.
- Exams, x-rays, preventative services as well as basic restorative treatments and surgeries for patients with severe mental or physical disabilities that preclude treatment under local anesthetic; or with a demonstrated contra-indication to local anesthetic,
- MSP Insured dental services, including extractions and biopsies, that are significantly complex or invasive in nature, such that it requires general anesthesia. Typically, this involves extractions in multiple quadrants, including impactions and complex teeth.
