Bridging to Employment - Workplace preparation program for youth and adults

Helps participants overcome their barriers to furthering their education and skills. Combines best practices in life skills and employment education with cultural teachings in a supportive classroom setting.
The Bridging to Employment program provides participants with personality profiling, career decision-making support, labour market research skills, and options for further training. An important component of the program is to enhance and strengthen personal development, First Nations identity, self-esteem, and daily living skills. Participants then build from this foundation toward employability, education, and training.

In each session, participants will learn many important skills that will help them find their next job. Some of the topics the class will cover include:
  • Creating resumes and cover letters
  • Interview skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Strengths identification
  • Certification: First Aid with CPR, WHMIS, Food Safe, Serving It Right, Introduction to Computers, Financial Literacy, and First Host
  • Conflict resolution
  • Self-esteem building
  • Money management
  • Basic communication
  • Job readiness
  • One week on-the-job placement
  • Work placements
  • Post Secondary and upgrading orientation

Prince George sign-up
The 9-week program is offered free of charge 3 times per year in Prince George, BC. It is open to men and women of the Prince George community who are 16 years of age or older, and are unemployed, under-employed or looking for more education and skills. Applications to the program are made through the Bridging to Employment Application Form (Prince George), and faxing or delivering it to the Prince George office. Call for more information.

Burns Lake sign-up
The 10-week Bridging to Employment Program is offered free of charge 4 times per year in Burns Lake, BC. It is open to men and women of the Burns Lake community and the surrounding area, who are 19 years of age or older, and self identifies as First Nations. Applications to the program are made through the Bridging to Employment Application Form (Burns Lake) and faxing or delivering it to the Burns Lake office. Call for more information.
